We have been blessed with another extended summer where the sunny days just kept on coming right through till October. That said, even when the skies open up, Whistler is still a pretty magical place with an abundance of things to do and see during your vacation. If you are wondering how to fill your day after a peaceful sleep-in listening to the pitter-patter of raindrops, we have plenty of fun-filled rainy day activities that will help maximize your time in Whistler and get you out exploring our beautiful mountain town.

Function Junction is Whistler’s secret hang out, just past Creekside village on the south side of Whistler. Here you can find two of Whistler’s favourite Breweries with local handcrafted brews to enjoy friends.

Whistler Brewing – 100% BC owned brewery offers a wide range of beers including lager, IPA, and their seasonal chestnut Ale. They also offer a great selection of pub grub and have a lovely patio area with umbrellas plus, super friendly staff to look after you.

Coast Mountain Brewing is the newer kid on the block and has been welcoming locals and visitors alike since the summer of 2016. They brew a range of flavourful and complex beers that can be found in restaurants and hotels throughout Whistler. They also have a tasting room with sour ales and curate a modest oak barrel program with releases throughout the year.

It’s that time of year again. If you have dreamt of a romantic dinner at Araxi, fantasized about the flavors of Rimrock, or want to fiesta at The Mexican Corner, now you can! Right through from mid-September until late November you can take advantage of the fall specials that tantalize your taste buds. Indulge in two, three, or four-course menus and maybe match it with a wine pairing. Whistler’s restaurant scene offers amazing Mediterranean, Mexican, Japanese, Tapas, Seafood, Italian, and more. Brunch specials are also easy to find as well as happy hour drink specials galore.

Local Tip:  Head to Whistler Bites for a list of daily specials throughout Whistler or grab a copy of the free Pique magazine which can be found along the village stroll.

Outdoor Activities

If your one of those people that would rather dance in the rain than wait out the storm, check out the below fun-filled activities which will get you outside and exploring and you will realize just how beautiful Whistler can be on a rainy day.

ATV or RZR Tour

Canadian Wilderness Adventures offer the perfect outdoor rainy day activity. Get kitted up in waterproof attire and expect to get MUDDY on one of their ATV or off-road buggy tours. Now that the lifts have closed for the summer, this is a great way to explore Blackcomb mountain. Canadian Wilderness offers both 2-seater and 4-seater off-road buggies so you can bring the whole family. They also have both beginner ATV tours so the kids can be a passenger or intermediate and more challenging adventures for single riders only. A valid driver’s license is needed and mandatory collision coverage is required per driver.

Local Tip:  Don’t slow down for the puddles and bring clothing you don’t mind getting dirty.

Book a home with a Hot Tub

Harmony Whistler Vacations have a large selection of homes with both private and shared hot tub facilities you can take advantage of during rainy days. If you are going to get wet anyway, why not relax, unwind and feel the stresses of life melt away while listening to the beautiful sound of the rain falling around you.

Scandinave Spa

No matter the season or time of day, you will always find complete relaxation at the Scandinave Spa. Start your Scandinave experience with either a Swedish relaxation massage, restorative massage or a deep tissue massage. They also offer registered massage therapy with advanced reservations recommended. The bathing experience can be booked with a massage or on it’s own. The idea is to get cold, get warm and then relax. With multiple hot pools, cold pools, saunas, steam rooms and relaxation rooms you can do this over and over again for as long as you like and get the blood circulating. They even have a bistro so that you can make a whole day of it. Located a short 5 minute drive from the village, the Scandinave experience is available for 19+ years of age and talking is kept to a bare minimum in the pools to ensure a tranquil setting and pure relaxation for guests.
Local Tip:  Did you know when you book with us, each of your guests will receive a 10% discount off the Scandinave Bath experience!

Go Bungee Jumping

Three, Two, One, BUNGEE! If adrenalin was on your list for things to do in Whistler, don’t let the rain stop you from bungee jumping. About 10 minutes south of Whistler is where you will find Whistler Bungee. You may need some words of encouragement to jump off a 50m bridge above the beautiful glacier-fed Cheakamus River. Jump solo or convince a friend to jump with you. After the bouncing stops, it really is an amazing feeling being hoisted back up knowing that you actually did it.

Local Tip:  If you’re as scared as I was, just step off backward so you can’t see how high you actually are.

Take a Hike

One of the best ways to de-stress and soothe your soul is to be amongst nature. With many hiking trails in the forest being sheltered by trees, why not go for a hike in the rain? The smells are intensified and the colours just pop during a downfall. Make sure you wear waterproof shoes and bring your rain jacket then find yourself some shelter along the way to stop for a picnic.

Local Tip:  Visit Whistler Hiatus to choose your adventure and head to Ghost Town, Train Wreck, Ancient Cedars, or a number of other stunning trails.
