Inspiration for your Next Whistler Adventure – Post COVID-19

In the future, one day soon, we will all return to life as adventurers, weekend warriors and whatever it is that your inner traveller desires.  This week, is our first week of our Inspiration for your Next Whistler Adventure series featuring one of our beautiful homes in The Gables.  This is a tough time for all of us travellers and adventure enthusiasts so we are here to provide you with weekly inspiration for your next holiday in Whistler.

During these unprecedented times we must do our part and follow the social distancing guidelines from our government authorities.  BC has implemented a restart plan to slowly transition to our new normal.  As phase three approaches, many businesses are starting to plan for their summer operations and we hope to host you all again when travel is permitted.  We continue to support all of the workers on the front-line including doctors, nurses, grocery-store clerks, postal workers, transit drivers and many others.  We cannot thank you all enough for your efforts during this time!

Somewhere in the future there are luscious golfing greens, sunny lake days, stunning mountain views, adrenaline activities and delicious patio brunches but for now, let us all be dreamers.  Somewhere in the future there will be vacations with friends, reunions with families and romantic getaways, but for now let us all be dreamers.  And when that somewhere in the future becomes today, Harmony Whistler Vacations will be here for you so that you can feel at home in the mountains again.

Operating since 2014, Harmony Whistler Vacations is Whistler’s locally owned & operated boutique Vacation Management company.  We are dedicated to helping guests discover their inner adventure through our FREE ACTIVITIES program, CONCIERGE SERVICES and 24 /7 support to deliver the perfect Whistler vacation.  We manage over 60 vacation VACATION RENTAL PROPERTIES in Whistler and carry the highest standards for our homes.  Our small team will always provide unparalleled service and deliver a personable experience for our guests.  Our goal is to make you feel at home in the mountains so that you can create lifelong memories with family and friends.

THURSDAY

Feel at Home in the Mountains at The Gables

Arrive in Whistler at our beautifully decorated home in The Gables.  The Gables complex is conveniently nestled among the forest next to Fitzsimmons Creek right between the main and upper village,  a stone’s throw away from either Whistler or Blackcomb Gondola.  This home fits up to 8 and is perfect for two families!

After entering this beautiful, fully renovated property through the large mudroom you will find a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with everything you need for cooking at home.  The stunning dining area is just off the kitchen and seats 6 or you can extend the table to fit 8.  There is a spacious sunken living area with vaulted ceilings and a beautiful stone wood fireplace for the utmost ambiance.  Off the living area is a washroom along with a large bedroom with a king-size bed.  Upstairs you will find the in-suite laundry, a full bathroom and a huge lofted room with two twins over double bunk beds that are perfect for the kids!  This lofted room leads to another bedroom with a queen bed.  This property is spectacular and no detail has been overlooked.

Village Stroll

Once you unpack your things and settle into our lovely home, everyone gets ready to explore a fun-filled evening in the main Village.  The kids are ready to let out some energy at one of our FREE activities at Whistler’s Escape Room before heading out for dinner.  The Gables location is amazing so you arrive at the main Village in less than 5 minutes.  As you make your way to the Escape Room you immediately notice the lively energy in the Village.  The Whistler Bike Park is heaving with adrenaline junkies, people are enjoying the summer sun on the restaurant patios and there are a couple of retail shops that peak your interest for later.

Whistler Escape Room

The Whistler Escape Room is a real-life gaming experience where groups are placed inside a themed room.  Your group will be presented with puzzles, riddles, and clues which you must work together to solve in order to “Escape” from the situation you are in.  How far you make it will depend on your group’s ability to solve the challenges laid out for you.  But don’t waste time…you only have 45 minutes to Escape!

Earl’s Restaurant

After the escape room you make your way over to Earl’s for your dinner reservation.  Earl’s is a great place for the whole family offering a variety of menu options from burgers to sushi plus something for the kids.  They also have specials for every day of the week and on Thursday’s you enjoy the feature drink, a Moscow Mule.

FRIDAY

On Friday morning, you are really starting to feel at home in the mountains.  To start the day off, you enjoy a fresh pot of coffee and cook a big breakfast in the fully stocked kitchen.  The open concept ensures that no one is missing out on the excitement on the main floor.  The dining table is extended to accommodate 8 people comfortably at the table while reminiscing the plans for the day to explore the mountains and lakes.

Bike Ride

After breakfast, it is only a short 5 minute walk to the upper Village where you pick up your daily bike rental, another FREE activity included in your stay at Harmony Whistler Vacations.  Arbutus Routes is a full-service Whistler bike shop dedicated to providing you premium service and a high-end bike rental selection.  View trail map HERE.

Lost Lake

Whistler’s network of trails connects all of the neighbourhoods with some amazing lakes and view points.  From the upper Village, you head towards Lost Lake which is the closest lake to the Village.  You meander along the wide gravel path under large pine trees to Lost Lake.  Lost Lake is the perfect place to stop for a break and enjoy the views.  It is complete with a sandy beach, washrooms, concessions and docks as well as an off-leash dog area (Canine Cove) close by.  Once everyone is refreshed, you hop back on two wheels to continue exploring!

Green Lake

From Lost Lake, you continue along the gravel path towards Green Lake.  This is the coldest lake in Whistler and not very swimmer friendly.  However, it is a breath-taking beautiful lake with a float plane dock and a boat launch making it a popular spot for watersports / wakeboarding!  Green Lake is the most picturesque lake in Whistler and through the summer months it boasts the glacier blue / green colour.

Table 19

Conveniently located along the shores of Green Lake is Table 19 featuring Whistler’s BEST patio.  Table 19 is situated at the legendary Nicklaus North Golf Course and the patio offers a glacier fed lakefront setting with towering mountain views.  Everyone enjoys a refreshing beverage while relaxing in complete serenity.   You could indulge here all day while watching the planes landing in the turquoise water but the kids are eager to continue exploring more!  Table 19 also has a few games out front of the patio such as horseshoes allowing the kids to be occupied and the parent’s to enjoy a break.  Table 19 has been closed for a renovation and plan to reopen for summer 2020, stay tuned for a revitalized brand + redesigned interior + refreshing energy looking out to Green Lake!

Valley Trail

This route only outlines a small portion of the Valley Trail Network and Lost Lake trails.  You mind the time and save Alta, Alpha and Nita Lake for another day of adventure!  Learn more here.

Dinner

Back at the house, there is plenty of space for everyone to relax together on the main floor and the fresh mountain air enters the home through the quaint patio just off the living room.  The fully stocked kitchen invites many meals to be cooked at home in the comfort of friends and family.  After dinner the kids head upstairs to their double bunk loft to watch a movie while the parents relax in the living area.

SATURDAY

Another big breakfast is cooked at home to fuel everyone for another day of adventure fun!  The kids take part in a day camp and the parents head to Whistler Golf Course for a round of golf!

Whistler Golf Club

The Whistler Golf Club course is situated adjacent to Whistler village and was designed by Arnold Palmer.  This course is truly a “Whistler” brand that offers stunning views of Whistler and Blackcomb, uncompromising course conditions and friendly staff.  18 holes on this course make for a game that you will always remember.  While playing here, you should always keep an eye out for the resident bears!  The afternoon is complete with a patio visit to Palmer’s Gallery Bar & Grill.

After golf you pick up the kids from their camp and head back home to freshen up before your dinner at Creekbread.

Creekbread

Creekbread is the perfect place for the whole family!  They are located just across the street from Creekside Village.  The staff at Creekbread are energized by the surrounding area and they want to make sure that you are happy and always having fun.  Their flatbread pizza’s are also one of the best in Whistler.  Recommendation:  Pemberton Potato Pie

Alpha and Nita Lake

After dinner the families enjoy an evening walk to Alpha and Nita Lake along the valley trail.  Alpha Lake has docks, a volleyball area as well as a large off-leash dog area (Arfa Park).  Nita Lake is a small lake area also with dock, pebble beach and the lake is stocked full of rainbow trout for fishing.  The parents enjoy the peacefulness of the lakes in Creekside while the kids are off playing on the docks.  As the sun starts to set behind Sproat mountain, you head back to the home to enjoy another evening at the beautiful Gables property.

SUNDAY

The last meal is cooked in this beautiful home before everyone packs up their belongings.  On the way home, you decide to stop at Brandywine Falls.

Brandywine Falls

Brandywine Falls is a great place to stop and stretch the legs for a short walk on your way home from Whistler.  From the parking lot it is just a short walk, about 15 minutes.  You walk across the bridge and over the train tracks to get to the lookout point.  The waterfall drops approximately 70 meters and is stunning in every season.  There are also spectacular views of Daisy Lake from the lookout point.
