FRIDAY ARRIVAL

Feel at Home in the Mountains at 'Whistler on the Lake'

Arrive in Whistler at this cozy home right on Alta Lake.  The townhome is on the ground floor and stretches over one level with a sunken living area.  This modern  one-bedroom suite has been fully renovated. The master bedroom has a queen bed and plenty of shelving for your belongings. The living area features a wood-burning fireplace for those chilly winter evenings and a beautiful big bay window to admire Alta Lake and all its glory. You will have your own fully equipped brand new kitchen with new Miele appliances and the bathroom has been fully remodeled with a walk-in shower.  This is the perfect base to relax and unwind in beautiful Whistler for a romantic couples getaway!

Once you're Unpacked, Enjoy a Beautiful & Peaceful Walk to the Village

Whistler on the Lake is located in the Blueberry neighbourhood of Whistler and is a relaxing 20 minute walk on beautiful trails to Whistler Village in the summer.  This section of the Valley Trail meanders along the pristine Whistler Golf Course offering views of fairways and ponds.  Be sure to also keep an eye out for the resident bears on the course.  This year there is a family of three, mama bear and two cubs, that have been seen regularly here.

Dinner - The Attic at 21 Steps Restaurant

As you arrive in the bustling Village you head to 21 Steps to enjoy a romantic dinner in their upstairs lounge, also known as The Attic.  The Attic features the same menu as the restaurant below but in a more casual atmosphere so that you can relax and sink into the vacation vibe!  You order a few share plates, a couple of negroni’s and enjoy the ambiance of this local gem.

Local Tip: Our staff favourite is their Fried Goat Cheese appetizer.

SATURDAY

On Saturday morning, you are really starting to feel at home in the mountains.  A pot of coffee is enjoyed on the back patio overlooking Alta Lake before cooking a big breakfast in the fully stocked kitchen.  The serenity of this location encourages you to relax a little longer before starting your day of fun filled adventure.

Explore Alta Lake by SUP

After a morning of relaxation, you pack a picnic and swimsuit and then head to Wayside Park, just a 15 minute stroll from the home.  At Wayside Park you reserved an hour SUP rental at Whistler Eco Tours as part of our FREE Activities package.  Experience the local flora, fauna, and geology of Whistler while gliding on top of the water of Alta Lake.  The afternoon is spent soaking up the summer sun, paddling on the lake and enjoying a picnic on the shores.  As the sun starts to set behind Sproatt mountain you make your way back to the home to freshen up for your dinner reservation at the Rim Rock Cafe.

Dinner - Rim Rock Café

The Rimrock Café is consistently recognized as a local’s favourite for atmosphere, service and a sublime eating experience.  They are commonly known for their innovative, fresh cuisine and emphasis on the finest fish and game, artfully prepared with inventiveness and flair.  The rustic dining room features two fireplaces and you enjoy a romantic dinner on the patio.

Local Tip:  Make sure to reserve a table ahead of time as they often book up weeks (if not months) in advance in peak season!  While you are there, treat yourself to the Surf & Turf – Half Atlantic lobster with a choice of filet mignon, lamb rack or venison, it is worth it!

SUNDAY

Another morning is spent in complete relaxation as you enjoy a pot of coffee and soak up the lakefront views.  Another breakfast is cooked in the wonderful kitchen before a day of adventure.

Discover BC's Culture at the Audain Art Museum

In the afternoon, you enjoy the beautiful walk along the Valley Trail to the Village and make your way to the Audain Art Museum.  Experience the art of British Columbia, from the traditional works of the province’s First Peoples through to its contemporary masters, anchored by the important collection donated by Michael Audain and his wife Yoshiko Karasawa.  The collection includes centuries-old Northwest Coast works, some created before European contact, to the internationally renowned Vancouver photo-conceptualists of our era.

Indulge in an Ice Cream from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory

After the museum you explore the vibrant Village.  The hot summer sun leads you into the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (RMCF) for a refreshing ice cream!  As soon as you enter “you get the candy store feeling again” as if you were a little kid.  Their ice cream, sorbet and frozen yogurt is locally produced in BC and is exclusively sold at RMCF.

Local Tip:  For chocolate lovers we recommend the Chocolate Brownie Ice Cream.  Alternatively, the Raspberry sorbet is a delicious option also!

After the refreshing ice cream you are ready to explore the Valley trail on two wheels.

Tour the Valley Trail on Two Wheels

From the main Village you follow the path to the upper Village to pick up your daily valley bike rental, another FREE activity included with your stay at Harmony Whistler Vacations.  You stroll across an enchanted bridge with picturesque views of Fitzsimmons Creek towards Arbutus Routes.  Arbutus Routes is a full-service Whistler bike shop dedicated to providing you premium service and a high-end bike rental selection.

Valley Trail to Alpha Lake

From the upper Village you pedal towards Whistler’s Valley Trail Network and make your way South towards Nita and Alpha Lake.  You enjoy the views of the golf course and spot a family of bears basking in the sun.  As you travel through Blueberry you pass by your home and continue along the trail past tranquil Nita Lake to arrive at Alpha Lake.  Alpha Lake is buzzing with energy and you find a spot to relax in the sun on the beautiful grass along the lake shore.

After an afternoon of relaxing at the lake, it is just a short 15 minute bike ride to the home where you freshen up for another romantic dinner.  Then it is just a short 10 minute bike ride to the upper Village where you drop off your bike rental before heading to Ill Caminetto for dinner.

Dinner - Il Caminetto

Il Caminetto brings a fresh, contemporary style of dining to the mountain. Executive Chef James Walt’s regionally focused menu melds Italian and local flavours with artisanal flair.  James works closely with local farmers and producers and personally selects the freshest ingredients featured on their menu.

Local Tip:  Enjoy their Mushroom Risotto!  They also have a fabulous wine list.

MONDAY DEPARTURE

The last morning is spent at this cozy lakefront home.  On your journey down the Sea to Sky you explore Whistler’s Train Wreck for one last adventure.

One Last Adventure – Whistler Train Wreck

The Train Wreck site is a local favourite walk and is an important part of Whistler’s historical and cultural identity.  Among tall cedar and fir trees are several railway carts that derailed in the 1950’s.  The train wreck site is poplar among graffiti artists and their contribution to this site ensures that each visit is unique.  The walk is an easy 5 km loop that crosses a suspension bridge and offers views of the turquoise Cheakamus River.

Local Tip:  Park at the Train Wreck parking lot along Jane Lakes FS Road and head towards the Sea to Sky Trail.  Allow yourself 2 – 3 hours so that there is plenty of time to photograph and explore this historical site.  Learn more HERE.
