This summer, there are sunny lake days, delicious sushi, farmer’s markets, backyard BBQ’s and waterfall hikes in the cards. As travel and tourism gradually re-opens, Harmony Whistler Vacations will be here for you so that you can feel at home in the mountains again. This week we are featuring The Aspens as part of our ‘Whistler Vacation Inspiration.’
FRIDAY ARRIVAL
Feel at Home in the Mountains at 'The Aspens'
Arrive in Whistler at The Aspens located just above the Upper Village and a stones throw away from restaurants, stores, and the Blackcomb Gondola. This suite is on the ground floor spread over one level. There is a large open concept living and dining space. The open living area features a beautiful big gas fireplace and views of the serene forest outside. The main area also features an updated full kitchen and 6 person dining table. The living area leads out to the large patio area located to the back of the complex complete with electric BBQ and a large outdoor dining area. The master bedroom features a king-sized bed and a renovated full 3-piece en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has two twin beds (which can be converted to a king with advanced notice). The sofa also turns into a bed to accommodate up to 6 guests. There is also a second renovated bathroom to complete this beautiful condo.
Chasing Rainbows
After you and your family have settled into your home away from home, you make your way to the Upper Village where you pick up your daily bike rentals, part of your FREE activity included in your stay at Harmony Whistler Vacations. Arbutus Routes is a full-service Whistler bike shop dedicated to providing you premium service and a high-end bike rental selection.
Once you have picked up your bike rentals, you are ready to peddle around and make your way to Rainbow Park. You meander along the Valley Trail through beautiful forest and you even catch a glimpse of a small group floating down the River of Golden Dreams. As you arrive at Rainbow Park you set into the vacation vibe!
Dinner - Nagomi Sushi
Just a short walk from your home in The Apsens, Nagomi Sushi is located in the Le Chamois hotel in the Upper Village. You are welcomed with a warm atmosphere and a long menu featuring sushi and other Japanese food.
Local Tip: Our staff favourite is their Agedashi Tofu – Deep fried tofu served with grated radish, ginger and tempura sauce. They even offer this local favourite with their special spicy sauce, for those who like a little extra kick!
SATURDAY
You feel at home in the mountains on Saturday morning as you cook up a big breakfast and dine on the back patio. The patio backs onto a lush forest and birds chirp as the sun rises for a beautiful summers day.
Cruise over to Lost Lake
After a morning of relaxation, you pack a picnic and your swimsuits and head over to Lost Lake, just a 5 minute bike ride from the home. It is the closest lake to the Village and complete with a sandy beach, washrooms, concessions and docks. The afternoon is spent soaking up the summer sun, exploring the bike trails around the lake and enjoying a picnic on the shores. As a cool breeze is brought upon the lake with the setting sun, it’s time to bike home and freshen up for dinner.
Dinner - Splitz Grill
Splitz Grill is located in the main Village and offers endless combinations of sauces made from scratch, a variety of toppings and fresh produce. They serve premium meat and a variety of meatless options, being inclusive of meatlovers, vegans and vegetarians alike.
Local Tip: You will not be disappointed with their most popular sauce – Splitz sauce. A mixture of garlic, dill pickles, sour cream, mayonnaise, Tobasco sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
SUNDAY
Another breakfast is cooked in the wonderful open kitchen with the family before an afternoon at Whistler’s Farmer’s Market.
Take a Stroll Through Whistler's Farmer's Market
From The Aspens, you ride your bikes to the Upper Village where you drop off your bike rental at Arbutus Routes which is conveniently located next to Whistler Farmer’s Market. At the market you enjoy fresh produce, mouthwatering food, live entertainment, local art and delicious beverages to quench your thirst. This local event is a great way to learn more about Whistler’s food, music and art culture.
On your way back to The Aspens with all of your market goodies, stop by the Upper Village Market grocery store to pick up all of your BBQ essentials.
Local Tip: Head over to Nidhi’s Cuisine for the best baked samosa!
Dinner - BBQ at Home
Use that fresh local produce you picked up earlier from the Farmer’s Market to make your BBQ extra special.
MONDAY DEPARTURE
On your journey down the Sea to Sky you explore Shannon Fall’s for one last adventure.
One Last Adventure – Shannon Falls
Located off of Highway 99, approximately 2 kilometres south of Squamish, Shannon Fall’s is BC’s third tallest falls at a height of 335 metres (1,105 feet). This is a perfect spot if you are looking for a quick adventure as the viewing platforms are minutes from the parking lot.
Local Tip: As Shannon Falls is conveniently located beside both the Sea to Sky Gondola and Stawamus Chief Provincial Park, make it a full day of hiking and sightseeing. If you continue along the trail it eventually joins up with the Stawamus Chief trail leading to it’s three summits.
