Multi Sport Days

Snowboard & Ski

Did you know that “Spring Skiing” in Whistler lasts all the way until mid-May? With Whistler Mountain open until middle of April and Blackcomb open until the middle of May, there are plenty days to enjoy the warm spring sun with longer days on the mountain. No pow? No problem. Late starts are the name of the game while you wait for the hardpack to thaw. What does that mean? More time to enjoy your coffee or a breakfast out while you wait! The groomers do an amazing job in the spring of making sure you can still enjoy some “fresh” chorded groomers. Not to mention enjoying the picnic tables at Glacier Creek in the afternoons while watching other skiers come down the mountain. One of the best parts about Spring conditions is being able to last longer without harsh cold weather conditions. It is also a great time to try a “switch” day where you could try a less familiar snow sport (between snowboarding and skiing) as the conditions will be soft and forgiving should you take any tumbles!

Don’t forget your sunscreen.

Golf

With the ever-changing weather forecast in spring, your Whistler vacation can include a multitude of different sports. Enjoy a day of golf at Big Sky Golf  (scheduled to open May 1st weather depending). Perhaps start your day on the mountain for a few groomers and head to Pemberton to tee off in the afternoon for a round of Golf! Nothing better then getting your tan on in the mountains and continuing it on the greens.

Mountain Biking

The Sea to Sky corridor is a wonderland of mountain bike trails. With the daylight lasting longer, there is no reason you couldn’t go up for a few groomer laps and swap the ski gear for mountain bike gear and hit the dirt in the afternoon. We love a multi-sport day! Book your enduro bike from Gateway Bikes opening for the season on April 8th for a pedal adventure. Check out Trailforks and ask a local for advice on what trails are suitable for your ability level.

Rent a bike at Gateway Bikes starting April 8th HERE.

The Meadow Park website is updated regularly with fitness class schedules, pool hours, closures and more.

The Bubly Tube Park is another great option, open until April 17th, this family friendly activity is located at Base 2 on Blackcomb and can easily be accessed by the village a short ride up the gondola, or by car with a free parking lot available. The Bubly Tube park offers great fun for the whole family with a mini slope all the way to an exhilarating fast lane. A magic carpet will take you back to the top of the top. Bears

Spring
in Whistler is exciting as many wild animals wake from their winter hibernation
slumber and can be seen on the mountain as well as around the base. Bears are
not excluded from this list as they begin to wake in early spring and are often spotted around the golf courses, wooded areas, and on the mountain. Don’t be fooled – these furry creatures are wild animals and should be treated as so! As we remind all of our guests, it is very important to make sure BBQ’s and grease traps are clean after use and ensure all food is secured indoors. We know you want the perfect picture, but these animals are wild and
unpredictable, and should be given ample amounts of distance without being
approached to ensure the safety of all.

Marmots

Another furry friend who will be waking up from a long winter nap are the Hoary Marmots. These animals are classified as rodents, and can be found on the mountains as they prefer meadows, steppes, and forest edges. Did you know Whistler received its name after the settlers who began calling the area “Whistler” because of the shrill whistle sound these creatures make. If you listen closely while on the mountain, you will be able to hear the echoing whistle noises the marmots make!
